The UPNA will host a forum for the Alachua County School Board, District 2 seat. Please join us on ZOOM (info below) Tuesday, July 14th at 6:00 PM to hear candidates Khanh-lien Banko and Diyonne McGraw.

After a short business meeting, including election of new officers and
board members, former UVA School of Architecture Dean and UF
Faculty Senate Chair Kim Tanzer, FAIA, will reprise her excellent talk
regarding affordable housing. Top City officials are invited. The Hope
Beautification Award will also be presented to one of our neighbors.
Please bring a covered dish, salad, or dessert to share with other
families, along with a serving utensil. We will provide the rest.
Annual dues donation of $20 per family will be gratefully appreciated.
There will be activities for kids of all ages, and Gainesville’s popular magician-juggler-balloon artist, Magic Mike, will perform. Delicious pulled pork from the Pearl Country Store and BBQ will be served, along with beef and veggie hot dogs. Please bring your favorite side, salad, or dessert.
While this event is free, donations and annual dues are gratefully accepted. We hope you can join us!

The Annual Meeting of the University Park Neighborhood Association was held at the United Church of Gainesville on Sunday, October 28th. Approximately 85 were present. Roberts (Bob) Mounts, President, called the meeting to order at 4 pm, and advised that a quorum was present.
UPNA’s Annual Meeting and Potluck Dinner. The event will be held at the United Church of Gainesville, Rymer Hall, 1624 NW 5th Avenue, Gainesville, on Sunday afternoon, October 28, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 PM. Child care will be provided. Voluntary annual dues of $20.00 will also be accepted and sincerely appreciated (the funds help pay for such events).
Following a brief business meeting and election of new officers, we will hear from the Hon. Lee Pinkoson, Chairman of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners regarding the work of the County Commission. We will also hear from Ms. Stephanie Marchman, a local attorney, regarding the proposed amendments to the Florida Constitution, from Ms. Murray Laurie, a well-regarded local Historiographer, regarding the National Register of Historic Places application process, and honoring Ms. Arnall Downs, whose log home on NW 8th Avenue is the most recent recipient of this recognition.
We will also present the Hope Award(s) to those being recognized for beautification and home improvement.
That said, the “main event” will be the family food and fellowship enjoyed with our neighbors. Bring a dish to share.

Join us for a spirited debate among the candidates in the Gainesville City Commission races. There are two races: District 1, and At Large seats. The candidate forum is on Sunday, February 25th from 3 to 5pm. It will be held at United Church of Gainesville located at 1624 NW 5th Avenue.
